Protest Against Ford Government Health Care Cuts – Organized by Ontario Health Coalition
Fight for accessible fair quality health care. Support the Ontario Health Coalition as they rally against the Ford Government’s destructive agenda.
The Conservatives have been in power for 1 year and half and despite having taken half of 2019 in vacation, they’ve managed to gut our healthcare system piece by piece to hand it over to the private sector. It all started in June 2018 when they cancelled OHIP+. Then, it continued with cuts to mental health care, services for families affected by autism, long-term care, out of country coverage, cancer screening, and more. They’ve further privatized laboratories and patient transportation, they’ve cut nurse positions and other hospital staff, cut pediatric clinics and obstetric care, among many other services. Now, we’re learned that they want to cut another half a million dollars in OHIP coverage, privatize treatment like sedation for colonoscopies, chronic pain management and others, cut paramedic positions and eliminate more than half of local dispatch units, cut funding to hospitals, and much more.
For a government that promised to end hallway medicine, they’re not living up their promises.
Needless to say, we need to send a clear message to this government. Our healthcare gives us the opportunity to lead healthy lives and alleviate stress, it is also an essential tool to reduce socioeconomic inequalities and offer more equal life chances. We will not accept their recklessness! We will not accept their vision to create a more unequal society where only the wealthy can be healthy!
